for upcoming season 2012. we have made some changes in our camping, to make your stay here even more pleasurable.

RECEPTION

Within the reception, we have added a new info-point, which connects restaurant bar and reception, and where you will be able, while sipping a refreshing drink, to get all the information about the camping and surrounding.
For all the guests who won’t bring their own laptops, there will be a computer with free Internet at their disposal.

RESTAURANT

This summer, the restaurant will be open also in the morning, throughout the day, from 08:00 till 24:00. You will be able to enjoy the morning coffee with a rich breakfast. In the offer there will also be a variety of desserts, from cakes to ice-creams and cups, and cold salads. You’ll also be able to order a “take away” food and drinks.

CHILDREN’S CORNER

A small corner in the beginning of the camping arranged for kids, to play and have fun, we have fenced and additionally arranged. The playground is now more interesting and safer for your youngest. A colorful castle -fenced area, painted wooden house and inner  facilities will delight your children, and give you an extra security.

PLOTS

The plots in the beginning of the camping, from no. 20 – 27, have been expanded and increased, and are now suitable also for campers and trailers.
For the plots no. 21, 22, 26 and 27 we arranged a parking lot on a side, in order to allow more space on a very plot.
We marked with numbers all the plots, so you can easily find your place.
By the plots no. 2 – 4 we added an extra lighting.

The camping paths, from the entrance to the campsite, to the area by the sanitary and restaurant, and between the plots, we have expanded and arranged to make it easier to move and maneuver your vehicles.

In 2010 we won the Zoover Award as the BEST CAMP IN ROVINJ.
Than we were RECOMANDED BY ZOOVER for the 2011 and as it can be seen from the current rating we should get also the Zoover award for the best camp in Rovinj in 2011.

In mid-September we got also the Slovenian award as the BEST SMALL CAMPING IN ISTRIA in 2011 within the 9th Camping & caravanning festival in Ljubljana. It was organized by the magazine Avto-Dom and the web sites www.avtokampi.si and www.dj-slovenija.si. The voting lasted all summer and we were pleasantly surprised with the results. We use this opportunity to heartily thank all of our Slovenian guests for their vote.

Located in the heart of Istria, above the Mirna River, this ancient town is proud of its tradition, history and art. In 1965. Grožnjan was proclaimed as The City of Art as confirmed by about thirty galleries and studios. Many artists found their home here, and revived this town, and rescued it from oblivion.

Magic stone streets are rich with cultural-entertainment events such as concerts of classical music, jazz festival, Ex Tempore art event, and numerous exhibitions.

Many vineyards and olive groves are a source of quality wine and olive oil, which is why Groznjan is admitted to the Association “City of Olive Oil” and “City of Wine”.

Traditional specialties such as prosciutto ham, asparagus, venison,can be tasted in agritourism, taverns and restaurants in downtown and surrounding areas.

Beautiful view from the city walls expands to Cicarija mountain, Motovun, Mirna River valley and Novigrad, and if you take a walk by the hills, the paths will take you to other small towns, across meadows, forests, followed with birds singing and fresh scent of Mediterranean vegetation.

The summer months turn Groznjan into a living stage of a constant events that remain unforgettable impressions and memories.

Starting from Rovinj towards the center of Istria, Buzet, and wonderful Roc, which is certainly worth visiting, the roads will be more and more narrow and dizzy climbing the hill on which a medieval town Hum is located.

According to legend, Hum was created by accident. Building the cities in the valley of the Mirna River, the Giants did not have much stones left, and with a few remnants they decided to build a miniature city.
The Double Door from 16th century, make the entrance to the town, after which you will find yourself on a small square from the 11th century. The parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located above the square, with steeple tower that dominates the town. Beside the church there is a lodge where every year on the Day of Hum, June 11th , the Prefect is elected.
According to ancient croatian custom, dating from the 12th, 13th century, which is kept only in Hum, where today lives 20-odd people, instead of circling the names on the ballots, the Prefect is elected by the men of the parish, in a way that each notch his voice into a wooden stick (rabos), and the winner is the one who gets the most notchs.
The Prefect is obligated to take care of the parish, settling disputes between citizens, imposing penalties.

After the formal election, a folk festival follows, with live music and local specialties, together with a familiar Hum wine and brandy.

Within the city walls the  Minnority Connection party is also held, with performances of several DJs, making an unforgettable atmosphere for the Day of Hum continue until the early morning hours.

One way to reach the beach from Camping Ulika is with the bike, riding along the coast, through the shade of the trees by bicycle paths, and you will need some 20-minute drive. Another way is by car to the entertainment center Monvi, where you will find a free parking (on the road), and from there you will need a 10 minutes walk to the bay.

The main large beach in the bay is strewn with small pebbles, and a small rocky beaches can be found around.
With it’s beauty and amenities, Lone beach attracts many swimmers, and it is suitable for both children and elderly people who can easily enjoy swimming and sunbathing. The shade can be found under the branches of ancient trees, from which olive trees stand out on a very edge of the shore.

In the bay there are two beach bars where you can freshen up, and nearby there are several hotels with pools and sports fields. You have the possibility to rent the boats, wind surfing, pedal boats and deck chairs.
In the vicinity, there is a well- known destination for free climbing.

What makes the bay even more special is a beautiful view of the Rovinj old town and the island of Katarina.

Beach volleyball is a popular entertainment for all, from those who just want to recreate on the beach, to professional players. Many tournaments in beach volleyball are organized in Rovinj.
Beaches in Rovinj are mostly gravelly and rocky, but you’ll also find several sandy beach volleyball fields.

The closest field from Ulika camping is the one in the tourist village Villas Rubin.

Just 5 minutes walking from the center of Rovinj, former railway station, there are two volleyball fields, and a bit more north on the Porton Biondi beach, another one.
More north, in the Amarin resort there is also nice volleyball field.

If you go from campsite Ulika south to the Cisterna beach, on a half-way, into the Vestar camping, is another ground for beach volleyball.

Have fun on the beautiful beaches of Rovinj playing volleyball with friends, and after the mach refresh in clear sea by the court.

“Rizana” is an old boat with a long history of almost 130 years, built in Rovinj, back in 1881, and it is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture. It was built in the shipyard Bennusi Brothers, where in second half of 19th century several types of sailboats were made, including the small sailboats very well known in Istria, and one them was „Rizana“.

It is possible to choose between three kind of excursions: Panorama, Lim Fjord and Fish picnic.

Panorama 

The excursion starts from 11:30 in the morning, untill 01:00 pm.
Departing from the north port „Valdibora“, floating around the old town, You will observe the magnificent panorama from this historical boat; Rovinj peninsula with its old town, and its Mediterranean architecture , the Church of St. Eufemia, dominated by the bell tower and protector of the town – St. Eufemia.
Floating around, the legendary Rovinj’s islands will surround you, such as the St. Chaterina, St, Andrew, Maschin, Figarola, St. Giovanni, the lighthouse St. John and other.
On the St. Andrew island, you will be able to see the ancient castle, originally a Benedictine Monastery established in 6th century, which is now a hotel.

Lim Fjord

The tour includes departing from the center of the city at 02:00 pm, and return around 06:00 pm.
Floating around the old town the boat sails towards Lim Channel. A deep valley extends from the center of Istria, Pazin, all the way to the sea and ends with a 12 km long bay. Name Lim fjord probably originates from the ancient times when it represented the limit (limes) between Rovinj and Porec. You will be able to admire the rich Mediterranean vegetation, with various archeological sites, such as St. Romuald’s Cave. Romualdo was a Benedictine who choose the solitary life of a hermit and so in 1002. he went to live in a cave, where he remained for more than 2 years. People beleived that a dark forces and demons lived in the cave, so they never came close. The only contact with the world was with a shepard from Jural. After he left the cave, the worshipers started to go in. Lim Fjord is also known by the fish and shell farms, especially mussels and oysters which can be tasted in two restaurants. Back in 1958. a movie „The Vikings“, was filmed there, with Kirk Douglas starring.

Includes both the Panorama and Lim Fjord excursions, starting at 11:30, and arriving back at 06:00 pm. In addition of admiring the beauty of the Istrian coast, you will also have a chance to taste the domestic products such as wine, brandy, fresh fish, grilled meat and other. There will also be time for sunbathing and swimming in places you couldn’t reach by yourselves.

The first salsa dance steps are easily noticable and can easily be learned, and the upgrade and training of new dance steps is possible throughout life. In a period of several days  dance workshops with top international instructors are organized .

Evening hours are reserved for concerts and dance performances at various locations. The last day of the festival a great pool party on the island of  St. Andrew is held.

From the campsite Ulika to the beach is about 3 km, we recommend going by car, although it is also possible with a bicycle, due to arranged cycle paths leading all the way to the beach.

Since most of the roads leading to the beach are unpaved forest paths, you will need about 15 minutes of easy driving. You can park directly by the coast, where you can find some shade for your car.

Be sure to bring sun protection, and other necessities, such as food and drink, since  Cisterna is a wild beach, and there are no additional facilities such as catering and sanitary facilities, shops,recreational facilities or animation.

A beautiful bay with snow-white pebbles and a sandy sea bottom is ideal for those who love the sun and tranquility surrounded by wild nature, away from city crowds.
To all the naturists we recommend a walk to the nearby bays, where they will find peace and privacy.
